Database System Lab
I am a Ph.D. student in Computing Science at Simon Fraser University, co-advised by Prof. Jiannan Wang and Prof. Zhengjie Miao. My research focuses on data management, particularly SQL query equivalence and reliable Text-to-SQL. I develop methods to verify the correctness of SQL queries generated by large language models and explore how combining lightweight models can improve Text-to-SQL accuracy.
Research interests
- SQL query equivalence — Developing methods to prove or refute equivalence between SQL queries, with applications to query rewriting and validation of generated SQL.
- Text-to-SQL evaluation — Using targeted test databases and counterexamples to assess the correctness of generated SQL and diagnose errors in LLM reasoning.
- LLM ensembles — Exploring how to combine outputs from smaller language models to improve the accuracy of the overall system.
